Chambers is delighted to welcome Mehreen Kazmi as our new pupil as she begins her journey at the Bar. Over the next six months, Mehreen will shadow members of both our Family and Civil teams, gaining valuable insight and experience across a broad spectrum of practice areas. She will then progress to her second six, during which she will be “on her feet,” accepting instructions and representing clients in her own right.

Mehreen joins Chambers with an impressive academic background. She graduated from the University of Leicester with a First Class Honours degree in Law with Modern Language, before completing the Bar Practice Course with Distinction at the University of Law, Birmingham.

In recognition of her potential, Mehreen was awarded the Nicolas Bratza Scholarship by Lincoln’s Inn, which enabled her to complete a three-month traineeship at the European Court of Human Rights in the Office of the President. In this role, she drafted speeches and briefing notes to support the President’s official visits, providing nuanced insights into a variety of jurisdictions.

Her work at the Court encompassed matters involving family law, immigration law, and public law, alongside in-depth research into the non-exhaustion of domestic remedies and the domestic judicial review procedure under CPR 54.

Other notable achievements include being awarded the Lord Denning Bar Course Scholarship by Lincoln’s Inn; winning the Ulaw Birmingham Speed Moot in both October and November 2023; reaching the finals of the Midlands Mooting League; advancing to the semi-finals of the Michael Corkery Moot at 5PB; and securing a finalist position at the University of Leicester Speed Moot.

We are delighted to have Mehreen join Chambers and look forward to supporting her as she develops her practice.
