Mehreen Kazmi
Mehreen holds a First Class Honours degree in Law with a Modern Language from the University of Leicester, which included a year of legal study at Université Jean Moulin Lyon III. Mehreen completed the Bar Practice Course with Distinction at the University of Law, Birmingham. In recognition of her academic excellence and potential at the Bar, she was awarded the Nicolas Bratza Scholarship and the Lord Denning Bar Course Scholarship by Lincoln’s Inn.
After completing her studies, Mehreen undertook a three-month traineeship at the European Court of Human Rights, where she was assigned to the Office of the President. In this role, she drafted speeches and briefing notes in support of the President’s official visits. She also worked within the UK Unit, carrying out initial administrative and admissibility checks on incoming cases. Her work at the Court encompassed matters involving family law, immigration law, and public law.
Mehreen has demonstrated a strong aptitude for advocacy, with notable mooting successes including winning the University of Law Birmingham Speed Moot in October and November 2023, reaching the finals of the Midlands Mooting League, and securing a finalist position at the University of Leicester Speed Moot.
Mehreen has a strong interest in developing a family law and civil practice and looks forward to building her skills as she progresses at the Bar.
